  2. Make a purchase from your retailer of choice
EasyFundraising forwards you on to the John Lewis website and you purchase like normal. The price of the shoes is exactly the same as if you'd visited John Lewis directly.
  3. The retailer donates to Decibels

Leave a gift in your will

Gifts in wills provide a vital source of funding for Decibels. Leaving a gift in your will is a simple yet meaningful way of leaving a lasting gift.

We recommend that you seek the advice of a solicitor to ensure that your wishes are carried out correctly

If you are writing your Will for the first time, then all you need to do is make your solicitor aware of your plan to leave a gift to Decibels.

If you have already written your Will, then you just need to make a simple addition or amendment to your will. To do this you just need to provide your solicitor with a completed Codicil Form.

There are several ways you are able to leave a gift:

  • Residuary Legacy: this is a percentage of what remains of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been paid.
Example wording: I give to Decibels of ITEC R&D Enterprises, Reading Deaf Centre, RG1 8JF, Charity Registration No.01109004 & Company Registration No 05301729 all [or ……% share] of my residuary estate for its general charitable purposes. I declare that the receipt of the duly Authorised Officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.
  • Pecuniary Legacy: this is a gift of a fixed sum of money.
Example wording: I give to Decibels of ITEC R&D Enterprises, Reading Deaf Centre, RG1 8JF, Charity Registration No. 01109004 & Company Registration No 05301729 free of all tax the sum of £…… for its general charitable purposes. I declare that the receipt of the duly authorised Officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors
  • Specific Legacy: this is a specific gift or object, such as property, stocks and shares or personal items such as jewellery.
