Ross Grant

Chair

Ross Grant is Chief Officer of Wakefield and District Society for Deaf People, where he leads the organisation’s strategic development, service delivery, and organisational growth. A profoundly deaf leader with extensive experience across the voluntary and community sector, Ross is passionate about improving access, inclusion, and opportunities for deaf people. Since joining the organisation, Ross has played a key role in strengthening services, developing partnerships, and supporting a period of positive organisational change. His leadership focuses on building sustainable, community-led services that promote independence, reduce isolation, and respond to the real needs of deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing people.

Ross is also committed to strengthening deaf-led leadership and governance, ensuring that lived experience is represented at every level of decision-making. He believes organisations are strongest when deaf voices help shape strategy, services, and future direction.

Alongside his role in Wakefield, Ross has contributed to the wider deaf sector through trustee and leadership positions within charitable organisations supporting deaf communities across the UK. In May 2026, Ross joined the Board of Decibels as Chair, supporting the charity’s vision of enabling deaf, deafblind, deafened and hard of hearing people to unlock their creativity and potential through the arts, culture, and wider society. In this role, he is focused on strengthening the organisation’s strategic leadership, expanding partnerships and national influence, and driving lasting, systemic impact through inclusive engagement, representation, and accessible creative opportunities that empower communities and amplify deaf voices.
